Derek joined the Board in March 2019 having been involved with DNLC through his work with the City Council’s Community Planning team, and his role as Chair of the Dundee Financial Inclusion Strategy Group. He retired in 2020 after a total of 52 years working with Dundee Corporation, Dundee District Council, and Dundee City Council.
He served for a time as former President of the Society of Local Authority Lawyers and Administrators in Scotland, and also as a lay member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Admissions Committee. He is currently Chair of Carnoustie Community Development Trust and of a Carnoustie Charity with a focus on community health and wellbeing and hopes to use his experience and long service in both the public and voluntary sectors to support DNLC and its service users.
